At 898 Marketing, everything starts with a story.  If you are an aspiring professional at the beginning of his/her career who lives, eats and breaths all things social media, Social Media Internship position at 898 Marketing is an ideal opportunity to begin writing your story. This 9-week position will help you craft your own story by offering you an opportunity to create, curate and promote engaging content across all social media channels to drive awareness and engagement for 898 Marketing and our clients. Under the supervision of a Account Manager, this internship, which can be done for college credit if coordinated by the student/advisor, offers the opportunity to develop real, practical experience while adding value to a dynamic team.  The position is what you make of it, and with the ability to work and collaborate with business, marketing and content leaders from the area in an environment offering the freedom to set goals for the internship to help you define your career path, you can make this the first of many memorable chapters in your professional story.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated Social Media Intern to join our team. Ideal candidates will have to be working towards a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or other related program and demonstrate a sound use of social media for business purposes.  This hands-on internship needs a team player willing to take on multiple projects in an effort to meet various company and client deadlines.

In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should have excellent multitasking and organizational abilities. The successful candidate will also have in-depth knowledge of general marketing techniques, principles and how social media marketing influences and plays into other techniques used to grow a business.


WHAT YOU’RE CALLED TO DO:

  • Support Account Manager in creating the monthly editorial calendar and daily posts including the development of creative assets (videos, creative, gifs)
  • Attend weekly social media client meetings with team
  • Respond and manage social media accounts in and out of the office
  • Review and analyze posts/campaigns to measure their impact and effectiveness based on established KPIs
  • Report on weekly analytics of impressions, engagements, and earned media equivalency rate to determine outperforming/underperforming content
  • Engage in online social listening to identify opportunities to insert 898 Marketing and clients in the social conversation as a gateway to reach influencers, expertsand potential customers/clients

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate course for Marketing, Communications, Journalism or similar field
  • Demonstrated hands’ on experience producing engaging content on relevant social media networking sites and platforms for business purposes (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, SnapChat) – provide portfolio or real examples of work done
  • Data driven, with ability to make recommendations based off insights
  • Trend-follower; obsessed with hashtags, emerging platforms, and strategic engagement
  • Experience in scheduling social media posts (familiarity with Hootsuite, Sprout Social is ideal)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel, Google Suite and both PC and MAC operating environments and Photoshop
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames with outstanding multitasking abilities
  • Organized, dependable and detail oriented
  • Team Player with a cooperative spirit
  • Writing and proofing skills are required
