ounded in 1919, The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley strives to create positive change by collaborating with partners to educate and empower children and families in the Mahoning Valley. As a vital resource in the community, they faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The United Way chose 898 Marketing to assist in telling their story through the “We Were There” campaign, highlighting the ways they stepped up to assist those in need in light of the pandemic.
Additionally, in conjunction with Greenwood Chevrolet, 898 Marketing has been involved in the annual Extra Mile Giveaway with both the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and the United Way of Trumbull County. Each year, Greenwood Chevrolet donates a new car to be awarded to one lucky United Way donor who contributes at least $240 per year. Typically, the event is held in person in the Greenwood showroom with contestants trying to start the new car themselves. Due to COVID-19, this year the giveaway went virtual with 898 Marketing producing a complete 30 minute TV program with all 10 contestants joining virtually while vying to win the 2020 Chevrolet Trax. The program was broadcast on WYTV with additional United Way promotions and Greenwood Chevrolet commercials airing during the giveaway.
