#89Ate- Barry Dyngles

If you’ve ever been to the 898 Marketing office, chances are you’ve heard, or even participated in, many conversations about our love of classic American barbecue. We talk constantly about good brisket, ribs, the “low-and-slow” process, and Zach’s inability to commit to purchasing his own meat smoker. Even though we do love some tasty, southern-style ‘cue, it can sometimes be tough to89Ate_BarryDyngles find in Ohio. Luckily, in a place like Youngstown, we are exposed to some of the best dining options from many unique cooking styles and backgrounds, and Barry Dyngles is at the forefront of the southern barbecue style in our area. Here is what we loved most about our meals at Barry Dyngles.

Formerly known as Armadillos BBQ, Barry Dyngles has been a staple in the Youngstown community for many years. Shawn Hannon, the restaurant’s owner, and his team work daily to create American barbecue favorites, like brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, and chicken wings, along with traditional sides like mac ‘n cheese, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, cornbread, and more. A growth in menu items has come along with the restaurant’s growth in popularity over the years, with the menu now featuring handheld sandwiches, pastas, quesadillas, and seafood. With an expanded space, menu, and traditional barbecue favorites, Barry Dyngles has something for everyone.

89Ate_BarryDyngles_PulledPorkOur team sampled a variety of food from the Barry Dyngle’s menu, including pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and the prosciutto and pecan salad. The sandwiches were served on toasted ciabatta bread, and topped with pickles and red onions. They were also served with a side of Barry Dyngle’s signature barbecue sauce, which has a sweet flavor that compliments the meat perfectly. The meat, as with all southern-style barbecue, was smoked perfectly, leaving it tender, juicy, and a joy to eat. The salad was also perfectly prepared with crisp lettuce and flavorful dressing.

The next time you find yourself hungry for some classic American barbecue, look no further than Barry Dyngles in Youngstown. Whether you’re looking for some tasty ‘cue, pasta, or appetizers and drinks by the bar, Barry Dyngles is sure to have something for you.
