It’s hard to find the words to describe what we are going through. This is crazy, right? The uncertainties we all are facing together are the likes of which can only be seen in movies or science fiction shows. We are the stars of our own episode of “The Twilight Zone,” and we literally cannot change the channel, we cannot look away and we cannot wake up from the dream world that has turned into an unraveling nightmare. As social distancing closes in and invades our personal space of life, it will be important that we find something that we can turn to in order to help us cope with the challenges we have faced and overcame, something to motivate us to tackle the challenges at hand or to help prepare ourselves for the encounters of challenges ahead. Look, I know trying to find a positive side to the realities of this virus and the impact it is having and will have on our livelihoods for sometime is difficult. It’s times like these, though, we need to help one another a little more. It’s times like these we need to have faith in each other, ourselves and a higher power. But if you think all hope is lost and the fears of uncertainty are causing the walls of your home to close in on you, take a moment and breathe. It’s times like these we find our resilience. It’s times like these we discover that faith, hope and love are not only theological virtues, but virtues that are priceless in coping with challenges. And, as the Foo Fighters say, “It’s times like these you learn to live again. It’s times like these you give and give again. It’s times like these you learn to love again. It’s times like these, time and time again.” Learn to live life each and every day as a gift. Learn to give and give again to those in need, whoever they are and however may be needed. Learn to love one another, yourself and the gift of life you have been leased. But always remember, times like these we will get through because we have gotten through them before…time and time again.
